A Sketch From 'London Life'
Published between the wars,
'London Life' was a journal that published some of the finest petticoat
discipline literature and letters of all time. The following sketch was
contributed to 'Petticoat Discipline Monthly' by Pansy Frills, with whom
I have lost touch. Pansy Frills, if you are reading this, could you please
write again? I do not know what has happened to you, and it concerns me.
Susan
'A boy aged about
thirteen, wearing a white sailor blouse with navy blue collar and elbow
sleeves, a beautifully cut little navy blue pleated kilt, navy ankle socks
and white openwork sandals'.
Note that the boy wears
a kilt, while his sister wears shorts and his mother, trousers. He is obviously
under strict maternal discipline and perhaps his sister has control over
him as well.
I wonder what the boy
is wearing under his lovely outfit?
