Letter 11
TWO TYPES OF PETTICOAT GOVERNMENT
(From John)

Dear Susan,

It gives me a great deal of pleasure to thank and congratulate you on the near completion of two years of publishing 'Petticoat Discipline Monthly'. I have enjoyed every issue, and hope to continue enjoying the new issues as they come out.  It seems to me that you have two main classes of female readers. One class comprises women who tend to be sadistic and really have it in for men. I accept that women have every right to punish men, and that many men well deserve to receive their just desserts at the hands of offended women. I personally though would not like to be on the receiving end of these women's desire to put men in their place.

The second class is comprised of women who have a very real affection for their men, although as realists they know that most men are immature and never really grow up. These fortunate men  are in receipt of such dedicated, gentle and tender care that they are greatly indebted to these wise and wonderful women who have every right to expect and demand from those men that the following concessions and admissions should occur:

The men must openly  acknowledge the unassailable fact of female supremacy.  Men must admit to the indisputable fact that women are infinitely superior to men.  As women are men's undisputed superiors, a man must work hard and energetically to subordinate himself to the devoted service of femininity by unconditionally surrendering his entire will to female domination.
The women have triumphed and gained a clear ascendancy over the men. To prevent men from backsliding or straying off the path of obedience to their female superiors, the victorious ladies will subject them to a regime of strict petticoat discipline.  So once again I hope that the way is clear to advance the glorious cause of a matriarchal society under petticoat rule.
Yours most sincerely,

John

P.S. I am writing a story based on class two women as per my letter. At a later date I will send you a bit of it so that you can decide if you want any more.

P.P.S. I love the new  drawings by Christeen, particularly the one of the aunt and her nephew.
I shall certainly be a keen follower.

Christeen's work has brought a very positive response from readers, and no wonder. It is a remarkably imaginative and beautifully created way of presenting scenes of petticoat discipline in action, although I need to add that each picture takes a great deal of work on Christeen's part. So to all our readers please be grateful, and don't whine for more than she can give.

I think that John is overstating the case a bit, which he tends to do, but loving petticoat government in the home mostly produces a happier and more stable domestic environment. I do not care for the first kind of woman that John describes, but they are very rare.

If men were as inferior and inept as John believes, then 95% of the poetry that I love would not exist. And neither would steam engines, although we would still have the romance of horse racing, which is something for which women have a strong empathy, quite independant of men, who are in general more oriented towards the betting side. The marvellous book on Seabiscuit which Anne and Timmy sent me was written by a young American woman.
Susan
