No 8 A Wallow of Hippopotami
Near Mount Kenya
Contributed by Chrissy
Chrissy has journeyed to Africa
recently (see 'General Correspondence' ), and sent me a couple of lovely
pictures, including the imperious portrait of the lion featured on last
month's cover to celebrate St. George's Day. The still, hot study above
captures the look of Africa very well. I am told by Saffy that the correct
collective noun for a group of hippopotami is a 'thunder', but Saffy rightly
pointed out that a 'wallow' would be more approriate - and I couldn't agree
more. The hippos in this picture show no desire to go thundering anywhere.
Mount Kenya is in the distance.
