No 6 Duthie, Aberdeen
Contributed by Julie Anne
Julie Anne lives in Aberdeen, and she has sent in a glorious picture which really captures the loveliest light in the world, the winter sunlight of Scotland. No landscape is lovelier than that which combines winter snow, and clear blue sky, with the sky adding a subtly blue tint to the snow. And blue and white are, very appropriately, the colours of the flag of Scotland.

Aberdeen has been called the 'Flower of Scotland', and it is an especially attractive city, although I do own up to a certain prejudice on this point. Duthie is the setting of the world famous Winter Gardens, although a web search only turned up this amateur site:

Duthie Winter Gardens

The authors of the site evidently stayed at the very comfortable and convivial Craiglynn Hotel, and if you feel like a warming, rich, creamy Scots lager after visiting the gardens, then it is the place I would suggest:

Craiglynn Hotel

Aberdeen itself has the following site, which includes a map:

Last month we featured two extraordinary photographs of the remote Australian outback. But I would still like to publish some beautiful or striking views from other countries. I am disappointed that none of my thousands of American readers have thus far taken any interest in this page of 'Petticoat Discipline Monthly'
