I hope you are keeping as well as we all wish you to be. Loss of PDQ would be a great blow to the causes of female supremacy and petticoating. You and your readers may recall that I was inspired by Dominique's letter and photographs to obtain more marabou items for dressing my husband-maid, Stephanie-jane. I should like to thank Ben, Patrick, Richard and other readers for their helpful suggestions for where I could obtain such items. I have now purchased several. The only bad news is that I still cannot find a pink marabou bolero cardigan like that in the image provided by Dominique (PDQ 20 May). However, my daughter Emma and her friend Holly, both teenaged promoters of petticoating, found a lovely bra, knickers and skirt set in Brussels for him. They are white with 'oodles' of pink marabou edging. This outfit will form the basis of his 'coming out in marabou and angora' party on Saturday. Two of my friends are invited, my three daughters and Holly will be there of course and also other teenaged girl friends of theirs. Both Emma and especially Holly are into petticoating their boyfriends who will act as the maids on Saturday. I'm actually hoping that Holly, who calls her boyfriend 'Cyndee-marie', will get him into a maid's uniform. Stephanie-jane of course will also be 'in service' as usual, but with light duties as his main purpose is to be admired, decorative and pretty in his marabou and angora, and a credit to my training. I have given him a dress rehearsal today. I attach three photos. The first shows the 'marabouing' of his dainty feet. He has not worn mules before. He obviously has to 'mince' in them, but obviously needs much practice before Saturday. I know that you do not approve of high heels Susan, but on this occasion they do suit the rest of Stepanie-jane's outfit. The second photo shows the 'marabouing' of his hair and the third his badge which I hope he will thrust out with pride on Saturday. If you are so kind as to publish, readers will have to wait until after next weekend for photographs of him in his full party outfit. I am not giving him a rehearsal for one item of new clothing, the 'piece de resistance' which is a secret and I will give it the girls to dress him in towards the end of the party. Poor thing, he was not impressed being dressed in marabou and angora today and actually asked if he could just be petticoated for his party as he was used to that. Of course he got a Thatcherite "no,no, no" in reply, but I am delighted he asks so nicely for his petticoats and skirts. All best wishes, Jennifer Thank you for your lovely letter Jennifer. I'm sure Stepanie-jane will feel delightfully humiliated in this outfit and bring tears of laughter for your guests. We all look forward to any photos you have of him so attired. Auntie Helga | ||
