MUMMY'S IN CHARGE
Return to Index
I wrote to you about my Mother's discovery of my husband's petticoating (July 2013). As Mummy lived with us for a long period after my accident, she had plenty of opportunities to help me with Melanie-Jayne's humiliation.
The first thing she did was to take away his house keys. Her reasoning was that he should get permission to come into the house, rather than just come in when he pleased. He would have to ring the doorbell and wait. She also took away the car keys, reasoning that she should have the car available for errands to help me during the day, so he had to catch the bus to work.
Every evening Mummy made "Melanie-Jayne Elizabeth" - she always referred to him by his full name - put on one of his modern maid uniforms, as talked about in my previous letter. He had to serve Mummy and me our evening meal, and generally wait on us, followed by the washing up. After that, she made him undergo an hour of curtsy training. This entailed continually performing curtsies under her instruction.
He complained bitterly that his ankles and calves ached after each session. The training worked because he now performs beautiful deep curtsies whenever he enters a room, and whenever we have a visitor. Mummy has done a fantastic job in training him like this - something I had never even thought of. Angie, Marion and Jenny were most impressed when they came around for a meal one evening.
Talking of Marion, Mummy and Marion have become really good friends. They often meet up for coffee and chats. I have no idea what they talk about, but I am almost sure that some of it must be about Melanie-Jayne.
The matter of Melanie-Jayne's bank account and credit card came up one evening. I had told Mummy that I intended on changing the name on his account to his new name, but that the plan was delayed because of my accident. Mummy sprang straight into action, and decided that we should do it the following day. Melanie-Jayne blanched at the prospect - "but I am working tomorrow", he said. "All the better", said Mummy, "you will be in the bank already so it will be much easier".
Mummy drove her and me to the bank the next morning with my husband's bank account details, credit card and deed poll document and we approached one of the assistants, Sarah. Sarah recognised me and said hello. Mummy asked Sarah to fetch the Manager, so she went to get my husband. Mummy asked him to come around to our side of the counter and then said to Sarah that the details on his bank account and credit card needed to be changed.
My husband tried to get us to go into one of the offices, but before we went Mummy had said in a loud voice that the name on the accounts needed to be changed to Melanie-Jayne Elizabeth Williams. All of the counter staff heard, as did the four other customers. There was a bit of an altercation as my husband tried to 'shush' Mummy and take the business to an office. Mummy was having none of it though, and the commotion brought Marian out. She asked what all the noise was.
Mummy explained to her in a louder than necessary voice that Steve's bank account and credit card needed to have the name changed to Melanie-Jayne Elizabeth Williams, and that we had the deed poll document to prove his change of name. All of the staff were now giggling at the thought of their (male) manager being called Melanie-Jayne Elizabeth. The female customers were shocked but the male customer had a smirk on his face.
Eventually, we allowed Marian to take us to an office to make the necessary changes. She explained to 'Steve' that his new documents would be sent to him. She also told him that she would have to inform head office of the change as his salary was paid into the account. "Also", she said, "I will arrange for a new sign for your office door."
Melanie-Jayne just had a defeated look on his face, but Mummy and I left the bank smiling, and thanked Sarah profusely for her help. Sarah was one of the ones who has previously seen 'Steve' dressed as a bridesmaid, and of course at two Christmas parties in female costumes. Sarah laughed that "we now have an entire all-female staff team now".
After a coffee morning with Marian, Mummy came back and discussed 'dress down Friday' with me. Marian had assured Mummy that Melanie-Jayne very rarely has any meetings on Fridays, but that she would supply Mummy with his work diary every week. Having received this information, Melanie-Jayne is now sent to work on Fridays always wearing nail polish, always wearing tights or stockings with no socks and always wearing ladies shoes.
If he has a meeting to attend, the shoes are more of a unisex style and the nail polish clear, but if not the shoes will have heels of varying heights and in a variety of colours and the nail polish could be anything from pink to black. Mummy has asked me to shorten his trousers by a couple of inches so that he can't hide what shoes he has on, and the fact that he is wearing nylons. I have not been able to do it as yet, but I will soon.
Thank you for your letter Beccy. I know how much we and our readers love to hear from you and to enjoy the latest update on her training.
Your mother being so enthusiastic will be of enormous benefit. Please do write us again, we love to hear from you.
