My Brother Courtney

Dear Helga,

I am new to this site. My brother Adam, (or Courtney) wrote you about his experiences as my sister. He sent me the same story telling me about how he sent it to this site.

I was touched to see what he wrote about our times as "sisters." I knew that he enjoyed playing dress up with me, but I had no idea it meant that much to him.

When I read that story, I realized just how bratty my brother could be. I can honestly say that turning Adam into "Princess Courtney" was one of the best things I did with him. Before that ordeal, he really was a menace. It wasn't like that was the first time we quarreled. He would mess up my room, bug my friends and I nonstop, and constantly leave his toys out for everyone to step on, despite my mothers constant pleas. Much of our disputes would end in us hitting one another. I remember one time in particular he and his friends got their squirt guns and started spraying me in my room, getting my bed and everything else soaking wet. He was the epitome of bratty brothers.

That day was the last straw for him. Luckily I had my best friend Lauren with me because there is power in numbers. Once he knew he had been beaten, it was all downhill. We could tell he enjoyed the princess gown. It was so much fun making him twirl and curtsy for us. If he didn't like it, he wouldn't have been constantly readjusting his tiara and dress. He was extremely cute when he played barbies with us. It wasn't the first time he ever played with them, but it was the first time in years. It was a dream having my sweet little Courtney.

As we grew older we continued to have sister slumber parties. He would sleep in my room in my Cinderella sleeping bag. As he said, Lauren would occasionally join in on our sisterly fun. We would dress up as all sorts of things. When I got my second cheerleading uniform, I let him have my old one and we cheered around the house. I think my alltime favorite was when we both played princesses. My mother has a picture of us somewhere around the house of us princessed. I will need to find that and send it in.

Adam was the best sister a girl could ask for. The last sister night we had was my freshman year in high school. When he turned 16 I did jokingly get him some lipgloss and nail polish. I told him that if he didn't like it that I was sure Courtney would get some use out of it.

In conclusion, what started as a punishment, ended up becoming a real treat. I loved having Courtney around and I do miss our times together. I was talking on the phone with him the other day and thanks to this site, we will be having another sister slumber party when I come home. I find it humorous that even at 18, my little brother would love nothing better than to be my sweet little Princess Courtney and I have petticoating to thank for it.

Ashley

Thank you for your letter Ashley. Many times petticoating is not discipline at all, how sweet you were able to have a little sister.
